
Nar phu valley trekking is opened to the tourist only in 2003 this trek takes you to the remote Nar phu valley inhabited by Nepalese Tibetans. Nar Phu the population about 300 inhabitants who depend on livestock, unlike most Bhotia people, whose trading patterns changed drastically after the Nepali Government closed borders with Tibet, the people of Nar and Phu valley were least affected by this change. Path leading from the Narphu valley into Tibet had never made them dependent on the salt trade and till today yak herding is the basis of their livelihood. Visited by very few trekkers this exotic land offers medieval Tibetan culture in undisturbed form, dramatic mountain views and great alpine scenery. Nar Phu valley trek starting point is Besi Sahar following the popular Annapurna circuit trail and branch off at Koto to follow the off the beaten track to Nar Phu valley in the north of Manang (Trans Himalayan zone).
The Nar Phu valleys, regions of ethnically-Tibetan inhabitants, grace us with similarly towering snow-peaks and unique culture. The trek up to Nar and Phu combines high peaks and passes, glaciers, remote villages, narrow canyons, lovely forests also have Blue poppy, Yak pastures, amazing rock formations,Geogological interesting sights,gompas and unique Himalayan cultures. Two long days of walking from the border of Tibet, this region was first explored by Tilman in the 1950s. Closed to trekkers until late 2002, very few westerners have explored these virtually untouched villages or climbed the many 7000m peaks surrounding it. Along with spending plenty of time at these colorful and timeless villages, we explore the high alpine valleys above Phu (including Himlung Base Camp for those who want to), and then from Nar cross the Kang La to Ngawal on the upper Pisang route leading back into the Annapurna circuit.Very few westerners have explored these virtually untouched villages or climbed the many 7000-meters peak surrounded it. We will venture into this remote region of Upper Manang. Camping along the way at the winter settlement of Nar and Phu, and visit some of the most unvisited and interesting villages in the Tibetan Buddhist world.
