Mt. Lhotse was first climbed by F Luchsinger and E Reiss in 1996. "Lhotse" means "south peak" and it  is part of the Everest massif and is only 3 km south of Mount Everest, separated by the South Col. There are three peaks which make up the Lhotse massif and they are Lhotse East or middle, Lhotse Shar and Lhotse. The South face of Lhotse is more technical and is one of the largest mountain faces in the world. We will attempt to climb via the normal route to the highest summit of the Lhotse massif. Mt Everest and Lhotse share the same base camp.Mt. Lhotse (8,516m), an independent mountain, but one of three peaks including Lhotse East or Middle, Lhotse & Lhotse Shar is part of the Everest Massif. The primary route now is via Everest's South Col. The climbing route up to camp III of MT. Lhotse & Mt. Everest is the same. The route separates above Camp III and part of the South Col.
