Sherpini col is a tough and challenging pass in Nepal that is only suggested for the experienced hikers and climbers. The trek begins at Tumlingtar and enters the highest valley in the world to proceed towards the Makalu base (8481m), the 5th highest mountain of the world. The trail is an opportunity to experience the foggy forest, high alpine zone, orchids and rural farm and market villages and also the yak grazing area, to the ultimate ice region of Mt Makalu, Baruntse and Sherpani col. The majestic vista of Mt. Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Everest, Lhotse, Ammadablam, Cho Oyu and many more is visible from the Thiarea pass. A neighborhood of Rai, Sherpa and Shingsawa (Bhotia) farmers can be found settled in the lower part of the region maintaining the natural and cultural balance of the valley. The endangered red panda and musk deer, gorals, Himalayan tahr and leopard and many bird species exceeding 400, out of which 16 are in  the verge of extinction, are being protected by the forest in the region.
