Upper mustang trek is a destination coveted by trekker who likes to investigate the antique monastery, divergent societies and hundreds of ruined caves that are more than thousands years old. The eccentric tribe of the Tibetan culture in the remote Himalayan Mountain is the main factor of attraction of this place. The upper mustang region is situated at the western Himalayan region adjoining the Tibetan Plateau at the border of Nepal.  The area is rain obscured making the trek suitable even in monsoon.  Another attraction of the trek is the Mustangi raja, the one and only state king of Nepal.

Opened only a few years ago, there is limited entry to non-Nepali visitors even today and require special trekking consent to pass through the upper Mustang from Kagbeni. The highest point of the trek is only 3870m but the situation may be difficult to accomplish. Lo Manthang, a prior capital also offers a unique attraction with its walled settlements, local aesthetics, traditions and their way of life.Ponies can be hired as the convenience of trekkers.  The trail to Lo Manthang passes through the ups and downs of the elevated regions of massive side of the Kali Gandakivalley.  The region also possesses some ancient Buddhist monasteries and untouched medieval period villages with white washed houses. The literal meaning of Kagbeni is “bolt at the two Rivers”.
